Samsung have just announced their latest flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S4. It features a huge 5-inch 1920×1080 display which has a ppi of 441, runs on Android 4.2.2, has a rear facing 13-megapixel camera, temperature and humidity sensors, 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB of storage space, MicroSD card slot which supports up to 64GB, weighs in at 130g and has a 2600mAh battery. Of course it still has the usual features you would expect such as WiFi, NFC and others which are now standard in most phones.

There are some other neat features though which definitely make it unique when compared to the competition.

The camera has a feature called “dual shot”. When recording, both the front and rear camera can be recording at the same time. You can then place video footage recorded with the front camera on top of the footage captured with the rear camera. When taking a picture it now has a new eraser mode, which enables you to cut things out of a picture. It does this by taking 100 pictures in four seconds, it will then overlay them so you get the perfect image.

The device can recognise when you’re looking at the screen or not. When watching a video, if you were to look away, it’ll automatically pause it for you.

“Air View” is a new feature which they’ve taken from their Note line. This allows you to simply hover your finger over things like a thumbnail of a picture to get a larger preview of it. There is also “Air Gesture” – this allows you to swipe your hand over the device to do things like answer a call, look through images or even skip a song.

Samsung have obviously packed everything they can into this device. Some of the features are very unique and have never been seen before in other devices. Though the device looks very similar to last years Galaxy S3, there hasn’t been much change in terms of design at all. With Samsung’s very huge marketing spend, I’m sure this will sell like hotcakes, as with every previous Galaxy device.
